Stuart

My name is Stuart Powell. I am the co-director and founder of IPAS Ltd.

I have been involved in quality management since I began my career in the Aerospace Industry and continued to expand experience as I moved into the Automotive sector and then into the Steel and Engineering sectors where I held various positions being responsible for quality engineering and management.

This experience enabled me to step out into my own consultancy business in 1997 where I continued to develop experience and skills as a consultant and lead assessor across various sectors including mechanical and production engineering, design, fabrication and welding, aerospace, automotive manufacture and sales, nuclear, sub-sea, calibration, warehousing & distribution, construction, transport, vehicle recovery and many other sectors.

My knowledge of the various standards ensured that consultancy clients received the mentoring and help required for them to confidently take ownership of their management systems in a no nonsense and concise approach enabling them to become certified with an appropriate and understandable solution to their needs. Over the years I have become well adapted to working with organisations from small start-up businesses to multi-national organisations.

My external certification experience has been developed working as a contractor for various certification bodies extensively in the UK and Europe and also Canada and the USA.

As time has gone on, I have become a go to point for these certification bodies for my extensive knowledge of ISO9001, as well as other standards.

I always ensure businesses implement concise and appropriate management systems with a “knowledge-transfer” approach ensuring staff can confidently manage their processes post certification with confidence.

I founded IPAS with this knowledge transfer approach as a core foundation. Ensuring our clients, build knowledge and understanding of the systems and utilising them effectively to better the business.

IPAS was founded in response to existing client requests to provide cost effective certification. The decision to provide unaccredited certification allows clients a choice in considering their own supply chain requirements. Our certification audits follow very closely the expected protocols of accredited certification and are carried out to the same rigorous standards. We will discuss requirements carefully with clients requiring our certification to ensure they have considered their customer and sector expectations.

Within IPAS I advocate for the gradual building of experience, which is reflected in the staff engaged on behalf of IPAS Ltd. These staff all possess the required sector experience and personal skills necessary to maintain the company high standards and expectations of both the customer and IPAS Ltd.

George

My name is George Powell, co-director of IPAS Ltd. I am a hardworking and driven individual with a very processed based mind and a knack for inquisitive question asking.

I have been working with ISO standards at some level of interaction since 2015 when I employed the services of my father and his business IPAS Ltd to help me build process controls into my own business within the leisure sector. I spent the next 2 years on the receiving end of the principles of ISO9001, taking lessons on how to successfully operate within my own business. I started to work as an understudy with Stuart in 2017, whilst shadowing audit visits to various clients.

This opened my eyes to how the ISO standards interact with businesses in all manner of industries.

As I got to a natural stopping point for my business, I started to consider my future work within the auditing/assessing. I worked harder and harder to join Stuart on as many client visits as possible as part of his audit team between 2019 – 2023. In these years I worked as both an external certification auditor to an internal auditor in various industries including; fabrication, spraying & blasting, engineering, warehousing, utility services, construction, and finance services.

In January 2023 I completed my ISO9001 Lead Auditor course. From this point, I have taken more responsibility within IPAS, completing audit visits as the lead auditor, as well as taking up new roles within the industry such as consulting and internal auditor training.

As well as working within this industry, I am a qualified Rope Access technician working on projects from structural maintenance to installations. This gives me a unique perspective as an auditor as I spend a lot of time on site working with materials, tools, and processes, all of which required a high level of quality, environmental & safety controls to ensure that a high standard of work is maintained.
